  Gordon Cobb, phd
Created in the spring of 2014, this multimodal performance was created at SoM as a collaborative effort between a group piano class, a music video production class, and four senior vocalists.  The goal was to tell the story of Sarah McLachlan’s life using the Ylvis song “What Does the Fox Say” as a template to contain the re-written lyrics.  Piano students researched Sarah’s life online, generated lyrics, learned the music, and forwarded a backing track to the music video production (MVP) students, who in turn created a lyric video to accompany the performance.  Four senior vocal students then had to learn excerpts of Sarah’s songs for the chorus sections.  Produced and directed by Dr. Cobb, this unprecedented interdisciplinary musical collaboration showcases the innovative and collaborative spirit of SoM and its students.
